Our initiatives.

In the Talent Academy, we believe that Gen-Ls need much more than hard-skills trainings and certifications to become our next Generation of Leaders. Our initiatives are designed to provide the Gen-Ls with a well rounded personal development experience, and they even have a chance to develop their own ideas in this forum.

CloudStratex x Centrepoint.

The Talent Academy’s mission is to provide opportunity to talented individuals with less sector experience, but we realised that not all young people have the same opportunities to get to the Talent Academy’s door. Centrepoint aims to eradicate youth homelessness, working with young people who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness to provide them with shelter, health support, education & careers support. Many of our Gen-Ls are of similar age to those being supported by Centrepoint, so this one is close to our hearts!

We have partnered with Centrepoint since August 2020, and in this time we have been a part of 2 Sleep Outs, organised a virtual race to Athens, and so far we have managed to raise…

…over £50,000 for this incredible cause.

StratAspire.

When you need inspiration, you look to a community to see what is possible and the ways to get there. If there is one thing we do well at CloudStratex, it is taking gaps and needs and turning them in solutions for the benefit of the community. This is exactly how StratAspire was born and how it intends to continue. It is a community for women in a dynamic, third–time, cloud consultancy start-up that embraces diversity but finds, unsurprisingly, that in the IT sector women are few and far between.

The Buddy System.

We know starting a new job can be daunting, so we created a system which allocates a buddy to every new Gen-L in the Talent Academy. The buddy system was created with the primary aim of supporting new Gen-Ls over their first few weeks at CloudStratex through regular check-ins and informal chats, answering any questions they might have (especially the silly ones). This allows a smoother onboarding process and quicker integration into the team, enabling them to enjoy getting stuck into their new role and immediately feel that they are adding value.

We think the buddy system is especially important during current times, where remote onboarding and working removes the social aspect of the job. It is essential that our Gen-Ls are getting the support that they need to thrive in their new roles, and we recognise that this support is even more beneficial when provided by peers. For this reason, nominated buddies have a few months of experience at CloudStratex, giving them knowledge of the company and processes while still having their own onboarding experience fresh in their minds.

The Mentor Scheme.

Initiated by the founder of the Talent Academy, the system allows for Gen-Ls to learn first-hand from the experienced practitioners throughout the company and gain some insights and advice through one-to one sessions designed to further our knowledge and skillset.

A group of our talented senior individuals from different departments in the company have volunteered to offer mentoring relationships within the Talent Academy. Each Gen-L is given the chance to apply for a mentor with the purpose of tapping into the existing knowledge, skills, and experience of our leadership team and transfer these skills to advance their careers.

The mentor relationships gives you the opportunity to:

  • Get guidance and support from the leadership of the business

  • Get advice and answers to questions you may have about projects, your career or training

  • Brainstorm and test new ideas

  • Learn more about the leadership and their experiences

  • Build your own leadership skills

  • Develop the ability to motivate and encourage others
